Black Hole Vu+ Solo+ VU+ Uno+ VU+ DUO + VU+ Ultimo 1.7.0 Multiboot Full Backup

There are 2 big news items in this Black Hole release.
- Meoboot Version 1.0 - Full Backup utility
1) Meoboot version 1.0 is a NEW VERSION entirely recoded for kernel 3.1.1 images. This version of Meoboot is 50% faster than the old version and only compatible with images that share the new kernel 3.1.1. As you know the new kernel 3.1.1 based images have a new filesystem (Ubifs). Meoboot can extract a Ubifs filesystem and install a full image in about 4 minutes on Vu+ boxes and is much faster than old versions at startup. WARNING: THERE IS AN IMPORTANT CHANGE IN MEOBOOT 1.0: This version of Meoboot accepts images in USB.zip format and NOT in NFI format. This is because images in USB format are easier to find and much more readily available. WARNING2: This version of Meoboot accepts only 3.1.1 kernel based images.
2) New Full Backup Utility. This new Black Hole utility will complete the Black Hole tools. You can find it in the main menu. The Black Hole Full Backup will allow you to backup all your images in the original USB.zip format. This means that after you make a backup you can restore it in it's entirety, you flash your set top box with your own backup. This new feature is based on the original script of Pedro_Newbie.

About new feature Tuner Server:
This feature will allow you to share the tuners of this box with another Vu+ box, a PC, a Ps3 and/or a compatible UPnP device in your home network.
The server will build a virtual channels list in the folder /media/hdd/tuner on this box.
You can access the tuner(s) of this box from clients on your internal lan using nfs, cifs, UPnP or any other network mountpoint.
The tuner of the server (this box) has to be avaliable. This means that if you have ony one tuner in your box you can only stream the channel you are viewing (or any channel you choose if your box is in standby).
Remember to select the correct Audio track in the audio menu if there is no audio or the wrong language is streaming.
NOTE: The sever is built, based on your current ip and the current channel list of this box. If you change your ip or your channel list is updated, you will need to rebuild the server database.





After the server has been built you can access it from the Media Player of the client.
1) To connect via lan you have to mount the /media/hdd folder of this box in the client /media/hdd folder. Then you can access the tuners server channel list from the client Media player -> Harddisk -> tuner.
2) To connect via UPnP you have to start Mediatomb on this box and then start Djmount on the client. Then you can access the tuners server channel list for the client Media Player -> DLNA -> MediaTomb -> playlists.
You can access via the client Media Player, the channel list on the server:




Warning: because UPnP Mediatomb uses alot of system resources it is STRONGLY suggested you connect to the Tuner server via Lan and not via UPnP.
NOTE about UPnP: Because UPnP requires alot of memory, you should only use it if you need to access your box from a PS3 or other device that cannot be mounted via Lan. Also, After the server has been built we strongly suggest you delete the Bouquets directory that are not really needed BEFORE you start Mediatomb. This will save alot of memory and resources..
If you want to use UPnP remember that Mediatomb will take some time to import all the channels in the database. Connect to the Mediatomb webif to follow the importing progress when you start Mediatomb for the first time.
To share your Vu+ box hdd in the easiest way possible, the Black Hole mount wizard has been removed and substituted with the default network wizard and mount manager.
The Nfs Panel has also changed. Now you won't need to provide complicated Nfs settings to activate client and server on your boxes. The NFS server is now fully auto-configured and enabled by default and you can use it like cifs and samba to simply mount the device.

VU+ server -> Vu+ client on Lan
VU+ server -> Vu+ client on DLNA
VU+ server -> Ps3 client on DLNA
NOT working with TV DLNA systems

"La storia della Bh 1.7.4 comincia una sera in cui stavo vedendo un film
documentario sulla Pixar.
All'improviso mi è venuta la strana idea di provare a invertire il classico schema
logico: nuova possibilità tecnica -> nuova implementazione nel firmware.
E provare a pensare ad una nuova implementazione nell'ottica del nome e della storia della nostra immagine.
Guardare al nostro software come la metafora di un piccolo mondo partendo dall'idea di buco nero."
Seguendo la logica usata da meo, per una volta usciremo dal solito schema di presentazioe
e per illustrare la nuova implementazione "Parallel Universes" della Black Hole 1.7.4
useremo due diversi criteri: Spiegazione metaforica e spiegazione tecnica.



1) Human metaphorical.


"Cari utenti Black Hole.
Abbiamo iniziato insieme molto tempo fa questo viaggio all'interno del nostro Buco Nero
saggiandone insieme le potenzialità ed esplorando tutte le possibilità che siamo riusciti
a sfruttare.
Ci siamo spinti sempre più nel profondo ed ora siamo in prossimità del centro del nostro
piccolo mondo.
E l'orizzone all'improvviso si apre e si moltiplica e facciamo fatica a conservare
l'orientamento. E' come se tutto il nostro spazio si sdoppiasse una e poi ancora un'altra volta.
In ogni spazio abbiamo tutte le nostre cose e scopriamo che ci possiamo spostare da uno spazio all'altro
apportando delle piccole modifiche in ognuno."
Immaginiamo per un attimo che l'immagine Black Hole è il nostro piccolo mondo in cui ci muoviamo
e usiamo le nostre cose.
Installiamo i nostri plugin preferiti, le nostre skin, le nostre cose come un software di studio e ci
prepariamo la nostra bella lista canali con i nostri bouquet preferiti.
Immaginiamo ora che senza dover installare un'altra immagine e quindi entrare in un altro mondo,
dover riavviare il nostro universo e renderlo instabile ci si presenta la possibilità di
accedere a delle dimensioni parallele.
Immaginiamo 4 dimensioni e assegnamogli dei nomi per identificarle:
1) Black Hole
2) Avalon
3) Chaos
4) Ghost
Quando installiamo l'immagine ci troviamo nella dimensione Black Hole, abbiamo i plugin di default,
la skin di default, nessun software strano o proibito e nessuna lista canali. Inoltre il nostro mondo
è limitato fisicamente alla dimensione della flash in cui risiediamo che in alcuni box come il Solo può
essere veramente ridotta.
Ora immaginiamo che abbiamo le stesse identiche cose in tutte le quattro dimensioni al momento della
creazione del nostro mondo con l'unica differenza che le altre dimensioni potendo risiedere su uno
spazio diverso (Usb stick) siano molto più grandi e ci offrano la possibilità di sfruttare universi
di molti giga. Inoltre le altre dimensioni, essendo una proiezione della nostra dimensione di partenza
non occupano all'inizio nessuno spazio lasciandoci tutto il terreno libero.
Immaginiamo di poter saltare facilmente a nostro piacimento da una dimensione all'altra senza complicate
operazioni e in pochissimo tempo.
Come organizzeremo i nostro mondi ?
Semplicemente in base alle nostre esigenze.
Immaginiamo di estendere le nostre dimensioni parallele in una usb stick da 8 giga.
Teniamo anche presente che se avviamo il box senza la usb su cui risiedono le dimensioni parallele queste
scompariranno e lasceranno solo la dimensione "Black Hole" di base.
Le nostre dimensioni partono tutte dal nostro buco nero ma possiamo apportare piccole modifiche in ognuna
senza influenzare le altre.
Se sono quindi un utente semplice con un box come il solo e voglio solo avere la possibilità di
sfruttare spazio in piu' per farcire la mia immagine con tante skin tanti plugins e tanto software aggiuntivo
mi limitero' a lasciare vergine la dimensione di base (Black Hole) e decidero' di vivere interamente all'interno
della sola dimensione "Avalon" in modo da avere a disposizione tutti gli 8 giga del mio mondo per divertirmi ad
aggiungere tutto quello che mi pare.
Se sono un utente un po' smaliziato che usa il box per vedere la sera la tv con la famiglia e con i figli magari piccoli
e non vuole che compaiano nella lista canali i bouquet per adulti o nella lista plugin cose come youporn e simili
potro' configurare la dimensione "Black Hole" con la sua lista canali e plugin senza nulla di compromettente (niente
bouquet e plugin per adulti) ed usare esclusivamente quella per l'uso familiare del box e potrò allo stesso tempo
configurare invece la dimensione "Ghost" con tutti i bouquet e plugin porno che mi pare e piace in modo da spostarmi
da una all'altra a seconda del caso se sto usando il box da solo o in famiglia.
Se poi sono un utente paranoico e tengo nel box software che non voglio sia accessibile agli altri bastera' mettere tutto
appunto nella dimensione "Ghost" e staccare la mia usb stick quando spengo il box in modo da eliminare ogni traccia fisica di
cio' che non voglio sia accessibile a nessun altro. Chiunque accendera' infatti il box a quel punto trovera' solo
la semplice immagine di base.
Se infine sono un utente smanettone a cui piace installare e provare tutti i plugin possibili e immaginabili e magari
anche provare a codare ma non voglio piu' rischiare di incasinare l'immagine ed il box che viene anche usato
normalmente per vedere la tv in famiglia mi limitero' ad installare tutto quello che mi serve nella dimensione di
base "Black Hole" per il nosrmale uso domestico e mi divertirò a saltare nella dimensione "Chaos" dove potro' installare
tutto quello che mi pare e fare tutti gli esperimenti possibili senza rischiare di compromettere l'immagine di base
usata normalmente.



2) Technical explanation.


La nuova implementazione presente nella Black Hole 1.7.4 da un punto di vista tecnico sfrutta la possibilità di Linux di
unire in un unico filesystem directory differenti assegnando le priorità all'una o all'altra a seconda dei casi e permettendo
di modificarne "on fly" gli attributi.
Combinando tutte queste possibilità si riesce a poter usare directory e settaggi differenti pur rimanendo in una sola
immagine.
In altre parole tecnicamente parlando non vengono installate 4 immagini nè vengono duplicate le directory.
Viene solo "annotato" il contenuto differente a seconda che ci si muova in un ramo oppure in un altro.
Combinando tutte le possibilità si arriva all'effetto descritto che in parole povere è quello di avere una sola imamgine
ma con 4 "contesti differenti". In ogni contesto (quelle che metaforicamente abbiamo chiamato dimensioni o universi paralleli) noi
possiamo installare i nostri plugin, i nostri settings ed il nostro software e tutto quello che ci pare e in un altro no
oppure installare altre cose. All'inizio i contesti sono tutti uguali perchè sono una proiezioni della immagine appena
installata. Ma tutte le modifiche che facciamo da quel momento in poi in ognuno di essi non si riflettono sugli altri.
In parole povere è come avere quattro immagini in una sola con la possibilita' di passare dall'una all'altra in pochi secondi
senza dover riavviare il box.
Insomma la novità di tutto questo stà nell'idea e nell'approccio adottati da meo per arrivare a questo nuovo
modo di sfruttare le potenzialità dei nostri amati box.


Brevi cenni sulla teoria degli universi paralleli della Black Hole.


Per muoversi agevolmente tra i vari universi paralleli e capire bene i principi che ne regolano le interazioni
abbiamo bisogno di accennare brevemente alcuni principi delle leggi fisiche che vigono nel nostro buco nero.
1) La teoria della prevalenza della matrice.
Abbiamo visto che i nostri universi sono formati da una matrice originaria (Black Hole) che risiede in uno spazio
unico e separato e altri tre universi paralleli (Avalon Chaos e Ghost) che condividono lo stesso spazio.
Abbiamo visto che gli universi paralleli sono tutti sullo stesso piano ma completamente indipendenti tra loro.
Tutto quello che avviene in uno degli universi paralleli non influenza gli altri e non influenza nemmeno la matrice (Black Hole)
Possiamo quindi dire che tutti gli universi paralleli funzionano allo stesso modo e sono completamente indipendenti.
Tuttavia vi è una differenza fondamentale tra la matrice originaria (Black Hole) e gli altri universi paralleli.
Poichè tutti gli universi paralleli sono una proiezione della matrice originaria quello che avviene nella matrice puo'
influenzare gli universi paralleli nella parte in cui questi non sono ancora cambiati.
In altre parole, a parità di condizioni la realta' della matrice prevale sui mondi paralleli.
Facciamo un esempio: Se installo la skin XX nell' universo Black Hole (matrice originaria) ed ho gia' la skin XX installata
nell'unvierso Avalon le due skin non interferiscono in alcun modo tra loro e le variazioni che faccio in un universo o nell'altro
sono indipendenti. Ma se installo la skin YY nella matrice principale e non ho mai installato la skin YY nell'universo Avalon
me la ritrovero' automaticamente anche nell'universo Avalon.
Insomma se una qualche cosa viene creata a aggiunta nella matrice originaria e quella cosa non esiste ancora negli universi
paralleli la stessa cosa verrà automaticamente esportata anche negli universi paralleli.
Questo accade perchè è la matrice originaria a creare la realtà e a proiettarla in tutti gli universi paralleli che poi pero'
seguono la loro strada e posso essere comunque modificati a piacimento.
2) Teoria degli effetti del Big Bang nella Black Hole.
Come abbiamo piu' volte spiegato, gli universi paralleli della Black Hole sono "proiezioni" della matrice principale.
In pratica vengono creati dalla Matrice come proprie estensioni (dimensionali parallele) al momento del Big Bang e cioè
nel momento in cui tutta la massa di tutti gli universi implode e poi riesplode.
Possiamo dunque dire che il Big Bang è composto di due fasi:
- implosione: concentrazione di tutti gli universi nella stessa massa.
- esplosione: espansione della massa e proiezione delle dimensioni.
Da tutto questo ne deriva che al momento del Big Bang tutti gli universi paralleli implodono e tornano quindi a confluire
all'interno della Matrice originaria (Black Hole) venendo completamente riassorbiti e quindi distrutti (smettono di esistere).
Successivamente nel momento della esplosione gli universi paralleli vengono ricreati ma sono del tutto nuovi e cioè iniziano
ad esistere come pure proiezioni (semplici copie) della matrice originaria.
Se quindi vi troverete a dover generare un Big Bang nell'universo Black Hole ricordatevi che dovete prima mettervi al sicuro
saltando nella matrice originaria altrimenti verrete distrutti insieme agli universi paralleli. E ricordatevi anche che tutti
i vostri dati contenuti negli universi paralleli andranno distrutti e quindi perduti.

Nota sulle Partizioni Multiple:

La " Wizard Usb Format" della Black Hole 1.7.5 permette ora di partizionare e formattare i vostri device Usb a piacere fino a quattro partizioni.

E' possibile ad esempio creare 3 partitioni e poi montarle in 3 differenti mountpoint nel device manager (es. usb, universe, cf)

Nota sulla configurazione degli Universi:


Cliccando il tasto "Ok" nella lista degli universi paralleli del Red panel si accede ora al menu di configurazione del singolo universo (L'universo principale Black Hole non prevede configurazione)

Sono disponibili 3 opzioni:

- Protezione accesso univeso

- Pin di accesso

- Forzare il reboot nell'universo Black hole.


Settando la prima opzione su "sì" l'accesso all'universo sarà protetto da un pin

La seconda opzione permette di specificare il pin. Se non viene settato nessun pin il default sarà 0

L'opzione "Setting force reboot in Black Hole" significa che al reboot da quell'universo l'immagine non tornerà nello stesso universo ma andrà nell'universo principale Black Hole. (Utile per gli universi protetti da pin per essere sicuri che nessuno vi accederà se ci si dimentica di saltare in un'altra dimensione prima di spegnere il box).


Nota bene: le configurazioni ed i pin degli universi sono resettati dal big bang.

- Minidlna è decisamente aggiornato e compatibile con molti devices e molte tv di ultima generazione. Da usare se ci si vuole connettere al box dalla tv o da altri devices e condividerne i file multimediali prezsenti nel box.
